July 4th Fireworks-Donations Needed

The Garner Lake Fireworks show will be on Saturday, July 4th at dark. We will begin the boat parade at 8:00.
For the first time in the show's history, a new company is organizing the display. The lead pyrotechnic professional is Lakeland resident, Craig Akers with PyroFire.
Garner Lake Association is title sponsor again this year, but this contribution only covers a fraction of the cost of the fireworks display. In order to make the show a success, donations are needed. This is your opportunity to contribute to the most popular Garner Lake tradition. The budget is $15,000, which is solely funded by your generous donations. No amount of $ will be turned away and every penny is greatly appreciated!
You may drop off your donation at Lakeland Cleaners or mail to 9800 Windward Slope Cove or 9721 Green Spruce Drive. Please make checks payable to Garner Lake Fireworks.
If you have any question, please feel free to call me @ (901) 870-5075. Thank you and I hope you enjoy the show!

City Planning Meeting

Announcement

The City of Lakeland Planning Department is inviting Lakeland residents in the central part of Lakeland to a neighborhood meeting to discuss new land development regulations that have been in progress since 2007. The central area is considered to be the area north of I-40, and south of the Loosahatchie River. The City will be inviting as many neighborhoods from this area as possible to the meeting, at the Oakwood Clubhouse, 10133 Matwood Oak Drive, on Wednesday, November 12, at 6:30 p.m.

The new land development regulations could be adopted in 2009. They would combine and replace several regulations which control development in the City, and also may affect existing lots. For instance, zoning, subdivisions, tree management, landscaping, architectural, fences, etc. have been regulated, and will continue to be in the future, as amended with these new regulations. Some new regulations would be introduced. Rezoning of property could be an implementation step in this project, in 2009.

Information about some of the activities of this project over the last eighteen months is posted on the City website at:

http://www.lakelandtn.gov/government/plan-projects.htm

More will be posted as drafts of new units of the regulations become available, or other related information is developed.

There will be other types of public meetings at City Hall in 2008 and 2009 before the adoption of any new regulations could occur. But, the format of this meeting is unique, so we strongly encourage your attendance.
